In celebration of its thirtieth anniversary, Variety reports, the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA) has chosen thirty of the most significant independent films from the past thirty years, and Twilight received honorable mention.

Movies like Slumdog Millionaire, Juno, Dances With Wolves, and Summit Entertainment's The Hurt Locker were chosen among the thirty films considered most significant from the independent film world, and Twilight was among three to receive honorable mention (others included Bowling For Columbine and Memento).

Twilight is definitely categorized as an independent since it was produced and distributed by an independent film company, Summit Entertainment, and it was the fourth widest independent release of all time, according to Box Office Mojo.

Given the fact that Twilight has had such a significant impact on present-day popular culture, its successes as an independent film are well-documented and, it seems, being noticed.

Title: Cracked
Fandom: Twilight
Genre: Humor/Parody
Rating: T
Main Pairing: Bella and Edward
LJ Chapter 1, 2, 34, 5, 67
Also on ff.net

Summary: Welcome to an experiment in dark humor, with alternating emphasis on the "dark" and the "humor." To tell you the truth, I'm not sure where exactly this story is taking me; unlike my other stories, the whole thing isn't prewritten. Hopefully it's still fun, though. My thanks to Ms. Meyer, for creating such memorable characters and for not minding that we all play with them.

Preview of Chapter 7: Time Is On My Side

It was such a silly thing, but she found herself wondering who his girlfriend might be. Obviously he saw her every day—he always smelled of her, whoever she was. On the rare occasions when she arrived at school before the Cullens did, she noticed Edward always did the driving and led the others into the main building, but she never saw him arrive alone or sneak away to meet someone, and he always sat with his family at lunch, no one else. She could only conclude that he was a) stopping off at his girlfriend’s house very early each morning while his siblings waited in the car, which was unlikely—Rosalie didn’t look like the type to wait for anyone; b) sleeping at the lady’s house every night and picking his family up for school, which made sense until she Google-mapped his family’s address and realized they lived too far away from town and from anyone else for him to be the one doing all that driving; c) secretly making out with a teacher during or between classes (and good on him for being the only Cullen not to date his sister), or d) he just liked wearing middle-aged women’s body spray.

Wearing Bath and Body Works products was probably the most normal thing about him.

"Hi Y'all! Sorry I haven't checked in for a while. Been immersed in the world of Breaking Dawn. I've been working very closely with our director Bill Condon, whose input has been SO great. He understands story, structure and character as only a fellow writer can, but he also has fantastic visual ideas. And he's not shying away from anything! Sex, birth, feathers, blood... it's all in there. More later! xoxo Mel"

Title: The Sweetest Thing
Author: xtalleenx (ThexInvisiblexGirl on fanfiction.net)

Characters: Bella/Edward, Renesmee - Bella's POV
Rating: T
Spoilers: possibly, to small things throughout the saga.

Summary: Renesmee's first birthday brings about thoughts of regret, sacrifices and eternity. Oh, and there's a cake, too. Bittersweet fluff post Breaking Dawn.

Preview:

He closed his eyes as if he wished to focus on the inner voice of my thoughts. I concentrated twice as hard to show him there was absolutely no regret in my own heart. Of course, there were moments when the loss of my humanity stung. I would never be able to see my mother again. I could never share Renesmee's love for chocolate. I would never fall asleep knowing Edward was there to watch over me. But those were marginal in comparison with everything else that had happened in only one year. My blood may not sing to Edward anymore, but we had something else now, sweeter than that, sweeter than anything. Renesmee completed our fairytale in every possible way. Her blood sang to both of us, but it was a different song entirely.
