'New Moon' To Receive Fan Choice Award At ShoWest

In the eyes of the Academy Awards, "The Hurt Locker" was the Best Picture of 2009. But a loyal army of Twilighters feel differently — and this week, they're making their opinions known at one of Hollywood's most visible annual conventions.

"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" has been selected for the ShoWest/Fandango Fan Choice Award, which will be presented Thursday at ShoWest's Final Night Banquet and Award Ceremony at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas. The Fan Choice Award was voted on by nearly 50,000 moviegoers, who were asked on Fandango to select their favorite film of 2009.
ShoWest, the largest annual convention for the motion-picture industry, is currently under way in Las Vegas. This year's installment will once again end with the celebrated Banquet and Award Ceremony, where awards will also be presented to Vanessa Hudgens, Zach Galifianakis, Amanda Seyfried, Sam Worthington and Jerry Bruckheimer. Rumor has it that a producer from the "Twilight" series will accept the award, and a special video message from one of the franchise's top stars will be played for those in attendance.

"You might have guessed that 'Avatar' would have won the Fan Choice Award, since 'Avatar' was the top ticket-seller in our company's history," explained Fandango Chief Marketing Officer Ted Hong. "But never bet against the passion, loyalty and dedication of the vociferous 'Twilight' fans."

The sequel to "Twilight" garnered nearly 66 percent of the vote — although "Hurt Locker" shouldn't feel too bad, as the same studio (Summit Entertainment) showed off its diversity in 2009 by releasing both films.

"Moviegoers on Fandango have been behind the franchise from the very beginning, and that's why the first 'Twilight' movie won the Fan Choice Award last year," Hong added. "The big question will be whether or not 'Eclipse' will be in the running for next year's award, and if the franchise can pull off a three-peat."

"We are thrilled to once again have the opportunity to partner with Fandango to present the ShoWest/Fandango Fan Choice Award at this year's ShoWest Final Night Banquet and Award Ceremony," ShoWest managing director Robert Sunshine said in a statement. "It is no surprise that the fans have chosen the box-office hit 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' as this year's recipient, and we are excited to present the film with this award."

USA Today Article on 'Twilight' Graphic Novel - Out Today

Ready for the next chapter in the Twilight craze?

If the original Stephenie Meyer teen vampire novels, movies, DVDs, posters and T-shirts aren't enough, now comes Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 1 (Yen Press, $19.99), on sale today.

The 350,000 first printing is believed to be the biggest for any graphic novel in the U.S. market.

Because of the original Twilight novel's length, the graphic novel will be published in two volumes. No date has been announced for the second. Nor is there any word on whether the last three books in the series will be adapted to the format.

The hardcover book, illustrated and adapted by South Korean artist Young Kim, was created with author Meyer's oversight.

"When it comes to really seeing Stephenie Meyer's personal vision of the Twilight property, this is as close an opportunity there is to accomplishing that," says Yen's Kurt Hassler. "Stephenie was very specific and has very clear images of what the characters look like in her head."

Kristen meeting fans outside of Regis and Kelly.

OMFG. Second hand embarrassment for Kristen when that girl in the pink freaking hugged her and was like "Omg I love you so much". Poor Kstew! She was probably like "get the fuck off me".

Notes from the souce
Here’s the Kristen Stewart video I promised in my last post. Again: if you take this to use on your fan-site/blog, please credit back to either my Twitter (@aliceinnyc) or my blog. DO NOT - I repeat - DO NOT rip this video and upload it as your own. It’s illegal and I will report you to YouTube. -

Kristen Interview with Pop Sugar

Kristen Stewart was up early this morning for Regis & Kelly, then she was off to the Loews Regency Hotel for the press junket for The Runaways. She was still in her tight leather pants while we caught up with her and Dakota, and both girls touched on how close they got to their real-life counterparts Joan Jett and Cherie Currie. Kristen also chatted a little about working with the friends she's grown close to on set, and she also shared a racy tip that Joan gave her on really connecting with her guitar. She said:

On Joan's advice for the guitar: "She was always telling me to connect like it’s coming through you. And considering your guitar is like right here (points to midsection), it really is a weird center — like — the only way I can describe it, and I’ve said it before — she literally sort of told me. . . Why am I doing this right now? . . . The only way I can describe it, and the way she told me to play like her, and its the only way that feels right is like, ‘You have to f-ck your guitar.’ I didn't know how else to say that, I’m sorry!
On working with friends: "It’s a weird thing. It’s rare that you get to work with your friends, and it’s rare that you meet your friends — well, you make a lot of friends on set too."

On Cherie and Joan's friendship and that notorious kissing scene: "It was such a unique friendship, and they rely on each other so strongly. You add a kiss to something and suddenly it’s like, “Oh. My. God. They love each other and they are lesbians!” Like, what?! We got to see them interact now, and seeing them together was really helpful. They turn into the same people they were back when they hung out all the time. So it’s cool, they still really love each other. It’s hard to describe — they’re just really close. They’re really close and they kissed one night."

On the pressure to get the story right: "If we didn’t tell this story right, this would have been the version of The Runaways that people my age would know about. That thought before the movie was over, it drove me crazy. The shoot was very fast, and it was sort of a mad scramble to get everything. Working with Floria was great, because we really had a lot of room to do, and be and live. But at the same time, when you care about something so much, it is scary. She’s a first time director, and I love her music videos. I love the movie, I’m so proud of her, and I’m so proud of everyone involved. This is a different experience — because usually, if the movie’s not good and it doesn’t turn out the way you thought it would, that’s just the way it goes, whatever. But with this, we didn’t have any other option. The guilt that I would have harbored for the rest of my life would have turned my stomach black."

Kristen on Joan Jett: “She’s incredibly proud to be who she is. I’ve never seen anyone who’s completely, innocently confident the way she is. She doesn’t even realize that other people may not be like that. It’s not overcompensation, it’s not like she’s trying to be a certain way.”

On if the film's empowerment themes helped her realize anything about overcoming insecurities: "Everyone has them, so don’t worry about it. I don’t know what to say either — I feel really bad for people who are like 13, or 14. I’m sorry, you’re going to get older! I don’t handle my insecurities very well. So, don’t worry about it — you’ll be fine."

On Joan's guitar playing: "She’s got a really unique connection to the music, the way it just comes out of her — the compulsion to make it, to create the sound, it isn’t something that all musicians have. The fact that she never started playing lead guitar... She wanted to play rhythm guitar, she wanted keep the music going, she needs it."

Kstew talks Breaking Dawn

Credit goes to kstewartfans and I just had to use that pic too! lmao

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Over the course of two films she's romanced a good vampire, been terrorized, bitten, and chased by bad ones, and put herself in the path of a dangerously pissed off werewolf. Still, nothing has quite prepared Kristen Stewart for one particular challenge she'll face in the fourth Twilight book, Breaking Dawn. (Warning: spoilers ahead!)

Sitting in a Hollywood hotel with her Twilight Saga: New Moon and Twilight Saga: Eclipse co-star Dakota Fanning (with whom she also stars in this week's The Runaways, as the teen versions of rockers Joan Jett and Cherie Currie), Stewart spoke about one truly daunting element she'll have to deal with whenever the fourth and final Twilight book, Breaking Dawn, begins filming: motherhood.

In Stephenie Meyer's novel, Stewart's character Bella not only bears a child, she does it in an incredibly gruesome manner. When FEARnet asked if Stewart is ready to wrap her head around playing a young mother, she burst into nervous laughter. "Oh my god," she answered. "I don't know why that sounds so weird. That just blows my mind."

The 19-year-old actress explained. "Actually trying to get my head around it, not that it matters right now, I wonder… the way they have a child in the book is so traditional and classic; she's so happy. It's not like I don't want [kids], you know. I'd love to have a family - but not right now! That boggles my mind."

FEARnet posed a similar question to Fanning, who plays the lead Volturi enforcer, Jane: Are you ready to portray a baby hunter? But Fanning, ever the professional, could not yet confirm her involvement in Breaking Dawn. "I don't know if I'm going to be in it," she demurred. Stewart turned to her. "You're gonna be in the movie."

Stewart's mind turned back to Bella's Breaking Dawn exploits. "It's insane. It's crazy. I have to do that soon," she said. "Oh my god, I have to be pregnant, I have to give birth -- I wonder if that's going to be in the movie…"

So do we, Kristen.

Fanfic update: No Choice, Chapter 12 - Oft Do Go Awry

Title: No Choice, Chapter 12 - Oft Do Go Awry
Author: glasscannon
Pairings: B/E, Canon
Rating: PG-13 for themes and some language
Spoilers: Primarily Twilight and New Moon, but up through Breaking Dawn, just to be safe.
Author’s Notes: This is based on a “what if?” question. It picks up in the middle of Chapter 10 (“The Meadow”) of New Moon and goes sideways from there, leaving canon. The question is: During Bella’s run in with Laurent, what if the wolves hadn’t shown up when they did? What if they had shown up just a few minutes later?  Those minutes change Bella's life forever, and she must learn to deal with the consequences.

Excerpt from Chapter 12:

Alice took a deep breath and held it, and then with one last glance at me said, “Alright. Here we go.”
I watched as she flipped the cell phone open, appearing to move in slow motion as her fingers grazed the keys. As she lifted the phone to her ear I tried to brace myself for what would come next, tried to imagine how completely everything was about to change…
The phone rang once, then went straight to voicemail. There was no greeting, only an electronic beep that set my nerves on fire.
My mind was a single steady hum, and my hands seemed to blur in front of me as I flew across the few feet separating us. I had snatched the phone from Alice’s hand before the thought was fully formed, driven by something deeper than thought. I pressed it to my ear, my whole body shaking.
