New Interview — Cherie Currie Talks Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart!

The Guardian has a new interview with real life rocker Cherie Currie. Cherie was the singer for the band The Runaways. Eclipse evil Vampire Dakota Fanning (aka Jane) plays Cherie in her next movie titled The Runaways, along with Kristen Stewart who plays Joan Jett.

In the interview Cherie talks about what it was like to be a part of the band, and talks about Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart -

Now, the story of the band is to be immortalised in a film, The Runaways, which premieres at this year’s Sundance film festival and which is partially based on Currie’s brutally honest memoir, Neon Angel. Kristen Stewart, the star of the popular Twilight franchise, is cast as the feisty guitarist Joan Jett while Currie is played by Dakota Fanning. “Seeing [her] playing me is so off-the-map it’s incredible,” says Currie, who was a frequent visitor to the set. “I can’t even digest it. She’s so together, which I was not at that age… She came to my house one afternoon and we sang back and forth so that she could get the inflections, and she nailed it.”

Stewart learned to mimic Joan Jett’s mannerisms with such devastating effect that Currie could barely tell the difference. “I got a phone call one day and there was this voice going ‘Hey Cherie’, and I thought it was Joan, I said: ‘Oh my god, are you in town?’” In reality it was Stewart playing a practical joke.

Doll repainter takes on the faces of Twilight

Just for fun. :P

If you're embarrassed not a fan of the Twilight dolls out there, you may be happy to know that someone has taken notice and has done their best in giving them an upgrade. Noel Cruz is a doll repainter who has revamped Edward Cullen, Bella Swan, Victoria, James, and Laurent. He's even taken on Rob's likeness...

He also does a ton of crazy good repaints of other famous faces and characters, check out his site!

Mods, didn't know exactly how to tag this, hopefully it's close!

Kristen talks about David Slade/Eclipse.

I hope that me submitting this in a separate post is OK.  I just figure that because this is the first we have heard Kristen discuss Slade it might be worth some discussion. I don't know about anyone else but I am afraid Eclipse is going to suck now.  I've been waiting to hear Kris or Rob talk about David Slade before I formed an opinion.  Kristen doesn't gush about him like she did with Chris and that has me really worried about the movie now. You just knew New Moon was going to be amazing because how highly they spoke of him. GAH. Thoughts?

Speaking of Bella, even though she hasn’t seen “Eclipse,” the third installment of “Twilight” yet, Stewart gives high marks to director David Slade’s style on the film, which will come out this summer. “He’s a very technical director. Very. Very. He’s very thoughtful. I think it’s going to be cool for ‘Twilight,’ like, shotwise. He’s very conceptual. He really, really takes a lot of time to…you’re not going to see, like, a bunch of Steadicam. It’s very deliberate, which is very cool. It gives you more time to think about what you’re doing. I don’t know [the tone] because I haven’t seen the movie.”

If you want to discuss the rest of the article my advice is to do it in the Sundance Master Post Day 2:  http://community.livejournal.com/lion_lamb/6701694.html

Kristen in Welcome to the Rileys

Happy and proud day for Kristen fans! Collating the reviews of WTTR, as I have yet to see them posted on here (or is it because this isn't a Kristen site? Anyway, mods would decide if this is alright.)

Currently WTTR is the second-highest rated film in Sundance (4.6 / 5) and is the second most-scheduled. Check out the buzz and viewer reviews here:

From HitFix: http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/2008-12-11-awards-campaign-2009/posts/kristen-stewart-in-welcome-to-the-rileys
Stewart has the gutsiest role as she shows a sexual side she's never displayed to this level before.  Fishnets, huge high heels, some revealing rear end shots and running around in her underwear aside, Mallory/Alison is a foulmouthed kid who will pretty much do anything but one specific sexual act not prime for publication.  And yes, you'll words come out of Stewart's mouth you may never hear again over what should be a long cinematic career. (This reviewer also tweeted: RT @HitFixGregory: Of course. Not gonna lie to anyone. Kristen is more than good, the issue is the direction and script.)

From MTV Movies Blog: http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2010/01/23/sundance-review-kristen-stewarts-welcome-to-the-rileys/
Kristen Stewart is utterly fearless in "Welcome to the Rileys." That's the takeaway from the film's world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday afternoon. You can quibble all you want with her portrayal of a 16-year-old runaway turned stripper and prostitute. But you cannot walk away from a viewing and say the actress doesn't fearlessly expose herself physically and emotionally, and doesn't do so with astonishing maturity and believability...In 'Rileys,' Twilighters will find nothing so much to be shocked by, rather than the fulfillment of a promise Stewart has been hinting at since 2002's "Panic Room": the woman is a fine, fine actress.

From The Hollywood Reporter: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/film-reviews/welcome-to-the-rileys-film-review-1004061390.story
Stewart’s Mallory is something the cat dragged in, a person of little self-worth who is determined to lose even what little she does have. She can barely relate to an adult other than with her sexuality — or more accurately, her sexual availability. Anger and self-hatred propels her body through each day...Bottom Line: An oft-told tale gets brightened by three fine performances.

From Risky Business: here
Stewart is raw, feral, feisty and utterly believable in ways that should remind everyone that she has chops well beyond teenaged vampire soap operas.

Stewart attacks her role with a clarity and ferocity that is compelling. Stewart brings an emotional nakedness and spirit to the role that is reminiscent of certain male actors when they were young: Sean Penn for one, Leonardo DiCaprio for another.

Where the "Twilight" movies try to hide Stewart's pimples, here, those natural imperfections (plus a few bruises and suicide-attempt scars painted in for good measure) suit the character just fine. Hiding behind raccoon-eye mascara and electrical-tape pasties, Stewart is the perfect wretch, utterly convincing as a lost girl leveraging her sexuality to compensate for her complete powerlessness.

If YOU were lucky enough to be at Sundance and even luckier to have watched WTTR, do share your review. Or if I missed any other review, post it here.

Burning the Edges - Chapter 33

Spoilers: None
Summary:Bella is an anti-social pyro with a colorful personality. However, she soon begins to make friends, face enemies, learn what her family means, and finds out some things she never knew she was missing in her life. AH, AU, OOC mostly for Bella.

A/N: Bella's character in the beginning chapters is a little harsh, but only because she is so withdrawn. She does lighten up after that.

First Chapter / Latest Chapter

(I obviously didn’t handle highly emotional situations very well. Why couldn’t I make a sarcastic comment and have it all go away?
