In an attempt to encourage members to ask the mods more questions, we are introducing the Page-A-Mod system. Considering that not everyone likes to use LJ messaging to contact us, whether it is because they are lazy or maybe because the idea of messaging one of those scary mods is intimidating, this should be effective in answering repetitive, miniscule, tricky,
annoying and/or private questions.
There are seven of us, so just as our moderated posting system works, your comment should be replied to within a short amount of time.
Aside from just questions about the comm., this can be used to voice your opinions on the workings of the community, give us some suggestions, and hopefully there won’t be many of these, but to also report any complaints regarding the community and/or its members.
So now instead of starting and ending your post with “Mods, feel free to delete this if it’s not allowed” or “Sorry mods, I’m not sure what to tag this as”, you can visit this post beforehand and learn the right way to go about it. We really would appreciate more people contacting us before they go post- or comment-crazy.
Ask, ask, ask, as many times as you like. Believe me, the mods will love you for it. It makes everything a lot easier and much, much, less frustrating. We also love to know that members want to follow the rules and take weight off our shoulders—wishful thinking.
The restrictions to these messages are at a bare minimum, but I doubt we’ll have any problems. After commenting, your message will be screened until viewed by a mod, and upon reading and responding, the mod will then decide if it’s okay to be unscreened.
We also suggest that you check your question hasn’t already been asked, and even though we know that not enough people do this, search through the tags (we did spend a day updating the system) or use our very own search engine, and of course, reread the community rules, F.A.Q., and mod posts.
